BALLET SOURAKHATA Fonder. To Sale Keita
an artistic groupe was created in the Republic of Guinea as an assossiation and a dance & music troupe with a purpose of promoting, maintaining and developing the Guinean original culture. The Ballet is focused on preserving the national cultural patrimony, which includes traditional Guinea music, rhythms, dances, instruments and costumes, as well as initiating and introducing cultural changes in their environment. The group gathers financial, material and also human resources around their cultural and social-forming activities.
Ballet Sourakhata was founded in 1998 in the Guinean capital, Conakry, in the house of Madamme Diallo Ne To Sale Keita, where the attempt took place during the first two years of existence the group.
With the progresive
development of the ballet, it changed the seat until it moved to the district
of Matam, where artists practicing today.
In 2001, the
Ballet Sourakhata won the first award at a festival
organized by
the l'AGHT (Guinean Association of Theathre). In 2005, won second prize in the
first edition of the Guinean Dance and Percussion Week. From that moment
Sourakhata was present in alleditions of this great festival.
The
Sourakhata musicians playing djembe, dundun, slit drums - Krin and balafones.
They accompanies a group of dancers, who also are actors and play the various
roles that build the plot of the performance.
Dance and
music performances tell universal stories of human relationship, full of
magical elements derived from the folklore of many ethnic groups living in
Guinea.
A common
theme in the stories presented by the artists from Sourakhata is the forest
full of mysticism, the most important place of exciting events, especially
after dark.
The stories
move the viewer in a realm of witches, devils and dark powers as well as
praising the timeless values of loyalty, brotherhood, diligence, honesty and
friendship.
